Summary
The analysing process of geodetic observations usually requires a decision on the used coordinate representation. Most of the terrestrial measurement instruments register polar observations, but during the analysis process, transformed Cartesian coordinates are often used. In this investigation, the invariance of the estimated parameters regarding a change in the coordinate representation is studied by means of the sequential quadratic programming. Exemplified on a best-fitting parabola, it is shown that the adequate transformation of the functional and the stochastic model is not sufficient to obtain identical estimates, because also an adapted target function is required to get corresponding results.
