Summary
In order to provide the integrated geodetic spatial reference in Germany, the timeliness requirement of the reference framework is an essential quality feature. Movements of the earth’s surface cause a constant reduction of this feature when the currently measured or calculated coordinates increasingly differ from official coordinates that were determined in the past. The remote sensing method of radar interferometry enables the detection of ground motion areas due to its high temporal and spatial resolution. As part of a pilot study of the Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe (BGR), the Landesamt für Geoinformation und Landesvermessung (LGLN) has received a PSI dataset of the Sentinel-1 mission for the period 2014 to 2018. After temporal and spatial outlier filtering, the relative data was given an absolute datum by the velocity information of official leveling benchmarks. These modified PSI data were modeled using Kriging approximation considering spatial structures by variography for the entire federal state of Lower Saxony. The produced dataset provides a huge amount of additional information for the detection and evaluation of ground moving areas.
