Summary
In our digital society, changes occur with respect to the demands, the availability and the value of spatial data. Due to technological trends such as big data, industry 4.0, cloud computing, cloud services, wearables, internet of things, etc., new opportunities and challenges are emerging for providers as well as for users of spatial information. In addition, the expectation of more transparency and participation, deriving from open data or E-Government, are creating additional demands, especially by public administrations. The working group 2 of DVW e. V. has analyzed these changes. The aim was to look from different perspectives at the complexity of values – and changes in the branch of spatial data. In addition to its monetary value, there are further values – such as reliability, correctness, and accessibility. The comprehensive assessment also included the view of the producers, the value chains and the users of spatial data.
