Summary
In the bachelor program Geomatics and Public Works of Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, students get application-oriented and practical lectures for their future careers. Therefore, specialization in the curriculum plays an important role in the profile of the graduates. Especially experiences and insights from the elective modules are valuable for the graduates for the successful step into occupation. In this article, the study program Geomatics and Public Work is briefly presented focusing on the practical phase of specialization. In April the elective module surveying engineering annually takes place as a block event at the Kinzigtalsperre near Bad Soden-Salmünster. The course is focused on planning, realizing and proper evaluating the network measurements for monitoring purposes of the dam crest to check for geometric changes. The engineering consultants Müller & Richter from Gelnhausen, which carry out these surveying services every five years for the Wasserverband Kinzig, accompanies the exercises, providing the students an excellent insight into the future occupational field. This article presents the elective module surveying engineering in terms of content and methodology.
