Zusammenfassung
Während einer Studienreise im Frühjahr 2005 nach Südafrika hatte ich die Gelegenheit, mich mit Vertretern aus dem Bereich des öffentlichen und privaten Vermessungswesens auszutauschen.
Das öffentliche und private Vermessungswesen Südafrikas weist Parallelen zum deutschen Vermessungswesen auf. Unterschiede bestehen u.?a. aufgrund der historischen Entwicklung. So wirken sich die Folgen der Apartheid noch heute auf die Aufgabenfelder der Vermessungsfachleute aus.
Das südafrikanische Vermessungswesen vermittelt insgesamt einen sehr fortschrittlichen Eindruck. Es besteht ein hoher Bedarf an Grundleistungen der Vermessung und somit auch an qualifizierten Fachkräften.
Summary
Altogether, the private and public land survey sector in South Africa gives the impression of being quite progressive in technical matters. Modern technologies like GPS are part of the daily work. The (partly) free access to information on geodata (geographically information) via internet is a good basis for economical decisions and furthermore gives flexibility and transparency.
Currently, there is a high demand for basic services of survey, that means land survey and production of (property) cadastre systems. Even though high precise theories are less important than practical solutions which are able to be financed, as mostly there is a lack of money for expensive equipment. In the near and medium term future the activities of the public administration and the professional land surveyors will focus on the land reform. In the long term the orientation on the providing with geodata and environmental management seems to be likely.
