Summary
Current global terrestrial reference frames, such as the ITRF2014, do not yet meet the required accuracy of the Global Geodetic Observing System GGOS of the IAG (International Association of Geodesy). Simulations allow to investigate the impact of future stations and satellite constellations, of planned further developments of the space techniques and of alternative combination strategies, such as co-location in space by special satellites, on the reference frame. Individual stations of the observing networks play a crucial role, as highlighted by the radio telescope of the Argentine-German Geodetic Observatory (AGGO) in La Plata.
