Summary
The number of integrated degree programs, especially in the engineering professions has increased in Germany in recent years. The combination of vocational education or training for technical administration with a bachelor degree offers many benefits for both, employers and trainees. Therefore, there are also more and more integrated degree programs in geodesy, which include a focused connection between practical education in a company or an administration and theoretical education at a University. Across Germany, different alternatives of geodetic learning models with their specific characteristics have been summarized in a table overview by working group 1 of DVW. The integrated degree programs offer opportunities to counteract the lack of engineers while continuous integration of well-trained academics with practical experience is enhanced. Employers can recruit suitable junior staff at an early stage and both sides benefit from future planning reliability.
