Summary
Geo data in connection with innovative GIS methods serve as a basis for the development and the update of transparent and secure cadastral administrations. The fast and at the same time precise surveying of land parcel boundaries fostered by Global navigation systems and GIS is a success factor for land management especially in developing countries. Geo data and GIS methods are used for example for the establishment of legally binding and spatially-related land titles, for the administration of secure tenure systems, or the continuous update of a cadastre. In land-use and urban planning geo data support participatory measures and the transparent and efficient administration of real estates or management of state land as example from Cambodia, Vietnam and Serbia in this article show. The quality of GIS applications depends on the capacity of the user as well as the availability and the quality of geo date within a national geo date infrastructure.
