Summary
Fast and direct train connections are a reliable measure for a wealthy economy of a modern state. The railway network in Germany is one of the most densest in the world. Connectivity in a railway network is the key question of this article. How can it be measured and what is the most reliable measure for connectivity? Ten major stations in Germany have been selected first for a test of four connectivity indices. The connectivity index has been selected for a second, more extensive study. For this study, the 106 most important stations have been checked regarding their connectivity. Finally the result of this comparison is illustrated and presented based on a map.
